MOQ (minimum order quantity) is usually the first number a buyer asks about — and the one most often misunderstood. At Mallor Eyewear our MOQ starts at 50 pieces per style on ready-stock lines, while custom production runs typically start at 300–600 pieces per style depending on the model and frame material.
Why MOQ exists at all
Every style you order has a setup cost: picking and packing, quality inspection, documentation and — for custom runs — tooling, colour matching and lens assembly. Splitting that cost across 50 pieces is workable; across 10 it is not. That is the whole logic behind an MOQ.
Ready stock vs custom production
Ready-stock lines are already produced and held in our warehouse, so your order only covers picking, packing and inspection. That is why the MOQ is low (50 pcs) and lead time is short — typically about 7 working days. Custom production re-opens the production line for your colourways and quantities, so the MOQ is higher.
How to build a first order that de-risks the buy
- Pick 3–5 proven shapes and take 50–100 pcs of each instead of one deep order.
- Test two price points: one opening price, one step-up model with polarised lenses.
- Mix sunglasses and plano frames in the same shipment — see mixed containers.
- Keep your reorder list short: reorder only what sold, and reorder early.
Can the MOQ be shared across styles?
Yes — the minimum applies per style, but you are free to combine as many styles as you like in one order and one shipment. That is how most of our importers build mixed containers: many styles, small quantities each, one consolidated freight cost.
